About the Blog

Hello and welcome to TassyBakes!

I’m Tassy (yep, that’s my full name) and I started this blog as a complete baking amateur back in 2013. I was a slightly bored English student at the time and the majority of my creations were improvised in a predictably ill equipped kitchen and fed to my gannet-like housemates.

What started as a hobby soon turned into an obsession and I found myself writing recipes and photographing food at every spare moment. I then decided I would quite like to make a career in the food industry, so after my graduation in 2015 enrolled in the professional chef diploma at Leiths School of Food and Wine.

Since leaving Leiths in July (2016) I have been working in food full time and am still growing my blog. I aim to get my tested recipes out each week and hope they inspire you (whether that be through flavours or decorations) to get into the kitchen and get baking.

Please let me know if you try out any of my recipes- I’d love to see your results.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back again!

Tassy

Hi! Thanks for following my blog. I love the fact that you’re interested in art history; if I were to go back for a doctorate, that’s what I would choose. The photos on this About page alone are making me hungry! I think I’m going to enjoy exploring your blog, especially the Art and Photography section. The emphasis on versatility is great.

Thank you for visiting Chiconia and following me! I hope you find some Nice Stuff there too. I do love your baking projects, but will have to work on adapting them for my own GF needs.

I must say that you are extremely talented and we have very similar interests. Is London just as beautiful as I imagine? I live in the states and am dying to travel that direction! Would love if you could do a post on your favorite past-times from your hometown! Take care and keep in touch!

I like your blog, and thanks for the follow! But I’m curious why you would follow my blog since yours is so happy and mine is super depressing.

Cheers! Well, I’m not blinkered- I know very well not everything can be happy, I just miss out the bad stuff- I find how people write about the negatives interesting though I guess as I wouldn’t know how to express some things!

Hi. I like the look of your cakes! You followed my blog after I wrote about the challenges of baking when you live in a small city in rural China and ingredients are limited. Today I’m going to try for a chocolate cake…. Happy baking!

Hi Tassy, nice to meet you. What an excellent, stylish blog you have. I’ve been looking around, and you certainly added a little fuel to the slowly burning fire to get to Africa. I’ve been there before (about when I was your age I did a 4 month overland trip) but it was a long time ago and Don has never been.
I’m not surprised you have so many followers so soon. Your blog is well written, elegant and engaging. Kudos.
Thanks for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer. Cheers, Alison

Thankyou so much for your kind words! I would certainly recommend it, I had a great time (including my Kilimanjaro experience!). Your most recent post has got me even more excited than I already was for my trip to Peru, Ecuador and Galapagos islands in August! I will be staying on Lake Titicaca, doing the full Inca trail etc!

Your blog excites me a lot- the travel bug is so infectious!
      Thanks, Tassy
