New and Improved: Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcakes

You might remember my original chocolate hazelnut cupcakes; they were rich, chocolatey and decadent in taste… but not quite as impressive in visual terms. So, today I decided I would bake them again but improve their aesthetic. The toppers pictured here add a certain extravagance to the frosting-piped sponges. They were created by melting sugar down to a caramel (an art I have at last perfected after many failed attempts) and dipping hazelnuts in it, leaving the sugar strands to set in haphazard shapes. I like them, what do you think?

  1. I would like to thank you for following my blog, even more so because I’m really happy that I got to chance to see yours. Very post (especially about baking) is really “a sight for sore eyes”. Amazing ideas, amazing decorations, amazing photos… And these cupcakes, I’ve never seen something similar and will definitely try this caramel-hazelnut thing soon!:)
